We are looking for an experienced and committed individual to join us at the Global Alliance for Humanitarian Innovation (GAHI) as Director of Partnerships and Alliances. You will play a key role in engaging and securing members and partners for GAHI and structuring alliances around key issue areas.

GAHI was created by the World Humanitarian Summit with a simple mission: to help drive innovation to scale across the humanitarian system. GAHI is a start-up, in its first month of real operation, and the founding Director urgently needs to recruit a stellar team to help build the organization and have a substantial impact.

GAHI is an entity with no independent legal status. During its start-up phase, and possibly beyond, it functions as a part of Elrha, which is a ‘hosted agency’ within Save the Children. GAHI has its own strategy and governing body. Its staff work on Save the Children contracts and core services such as IT, HR and legal services are provided through Save the Children.

As Director of Partnerships and Alliances, you will be instrumental to the success of the GAHI, which is a relatively unique and ambitious concept. The role will require the post holder to take on four primary responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the strength and integrity of the alliance and deeping relationships with existing alliance members
  • Strengthening the alliance and adding new members who are relevant, engaged and add value to our work
  • Securing and managing adequate resources, being responsible for rasining adequate funding to allow GAHI to deliver and succeed
  • Structuring the alliance to ensure that our work respects the values of innovation, transparency and accountability.

To be successful you will be educated to degree level with robust analytical skills and have shown ability to raise resources. Although you don’t need to be a humanitarian, some relevant experience is ideal and you will be open to new ideas and cultures. Creative, curious and passionate, you must be comfortable working with others. You will have demonstrable ability in building relationships and experience of managing staff and partners is critical.

At Save the Children we are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children in our work. We will do everything possible to ensure that only those who are suitable to work with children are recruited to work for us. This post is subject to a range of vetting checks including a criminal records disclosure.

Our mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. If you share our mission, are passionate about making it happen and strongly believe you can contribute then join us and we'll give you every opportunity to succeed. We look forward to hearing from you.

Closing date: 3rd December 2017
