 About the role

The regional pharmacy advisor will provide technical advice and support to all health programmes within the region.  The position will work closely with health, logistics, operations and leadership positions in order to review and strengthen the pharmaceutical supply chain and improve the clinical care provided to beneficiaries.  In the field, the post will capacities build and empower pharmacists, as well as frontline health workers, procurement and logistics staff and project managers.  Through critical assessments, achievable recommendations, nurturing mentorship and frequent review, the regional pharmacist will demonstrate an improvement in quality and efficiency as well as a reduction in risk as a result of their interventions.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have

  • A degree in Pharmacy or equivalent Pharmacy Qualification
  • Experience in clinical pharmacy and dispensary management.
  • Experience in medical procurement, including forecasting and quantification.
  • Substantial experience in managing pharmaceutical supply chains in fragile contexts.
  • Experience in capacity building and mentoring clinical and logistic staff.
  • Strong planning, management and decision making experience, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks.
  • Experience in conducting pharmacy, logistics or health assessments / audits.
  • Experience of working in the NGO sector, within large scale country programmes and in emergency/humanitarian environments especially in West and Central Africa.
  • Experience working with key institutional donors including ECHO, Global fund, USAID/OFDA.
  • Experience of working with a diverse team and building relationships quickly, with a wide range of people, both internally and externally.
  • Experience of working in remote field bases with limited infrastructure.
  • Cultural awareness, with strong written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills in English and in French
