Contract length: 12 months


The role

The Field Office Director will provide overall strategic and operational leadership to the project, with responsibility for delivery of high quality programming, developing clear strategic and operational plans, increasing SC visibility, forging strong partnerships with the United Nations, the Government and other NGOs and local organisations working in the area.

This role will lead the Sponsorship program, which supports access to quality basic education as well as school health and nutrition and adolescent development in the Artibonite Department of Haiti. The Field Office Director will lead the relationship with the SCUS Sponsorship team and ensure that reporting standards and other deliverables meet required standards.

The Field Office Director will also oversee any additional projects in the Artibonite region and pro-actively support the search for new funding opportunities.


Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • At least 5 years of senior management experience in an NGO environment, with experience managing child rights based education, protection, resilience, food security or other development operations.
  • Post-graduate degree in education, development or other relevant social sciences.
  • Proven ability to manage consortium programmes, with extensive experience managing multi-agency programmes.
  • Ability to represent the programme at a strategic level and engage and influence key stakeholders at regional and national level.
  • Demonstrated experience of working with national level government structures.
  • Self-motivated and results orientated.
  • Highly numerically articulate with a track record of data manipulation and reporting systems.
  • Experience in management of finance and budget monitoring and risk management.
  • Proven ability to motivate and develop others.
  • Highly diplomatic with excellent political awareness and understanding.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience of building, leading and developing a team of staff with different backgrounds and expertise.
  • Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in.
  • Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and French.

Desirable:

  • Proficiency in Haitian Creole highly desirable
  • Prior experience of designing and/or delivering large scale (in excess of USD5m) programmes.
  • Previous work experience in Haiti, and the Artibonite region in particular.
  • Previous work experience in emergency response.
