Contract length: 2 years fixed term


The role
As a member of the Senior Management Team, the Director of Programme Implementation shares in the overall responsibility for the direction and coordination of the Country Office. The Director of Program Implementation in his/her capacity is responsible for the implementation of all programming in country, including the management of all field offices, emergency preparedness and response (including DRR), and logistics for the Country Office , as well as for the direction, support, and evaluation of senior staff within the Program Implementation Department.

Qualifications and experience

  • Master’s degree in the social sciences or humanities.
  • Excellent understanding of at least three of the following programmatic sectors: Health; nutrition; education; disaster risk reduction and emergency response; community development and livelihoods; child protection; and child rights governance.
  • Substantial experience and knowledge of programme and implementation management, project management, budget oversight, donor regulations, and grants acquisition, especially in regards to USAID, DFAT, EuropeAid, ECHO, DFATD, SIDA, and other major donor agencies.
  • Functional capacity to analyze information, evaluate options, and think and plan in an effective, strategic manner.
  • Substantial experience of line management, effective team building, and capacity development.
  • Proven record of successful team leadership, management of implementing teams and delivering programme objectives in complex, fragile and challenging environments, in particular in regards to the safety and security management.
  • Experience of working in Humanitarian Response and Preparedness programmes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Commitment to, and understanding of, Save the Children’s principles and values, including child rights and child protection.
