Call for proposals for Research & Learning Partner to join CARE International UK’s Resilience Programme in Syria – Understanding Resilience in the Syrian Context

 

Background to Research:

The purpose of this research partnership is to deliver learning and lessons for CARE and the wider humanitarian sector in Syria on what resilience means within different regions of Syria and how we can support strengthening resilience within such challenging circumstances. Through this partnership, CARE hopes to learn and share lessons on what is needed for effective resilience building in this context that can inform current and future interventions and reflections on effective programming to address the broader humanitarian situation in Syria.

 

Key deliverables:  

  • Inception Report that includes a full research plan
  • Preliminary Findings Report
  • Attendance and presenting preliminary findings at learning workshops for CARE regional hubs
  • Final External Research Report
  • 1 Learning Brief for CARE (internal)
  • 4 Resilience Role Model stories
  • Attendance and presentation of final findings at Learning workshops for CARE regional hubs
  • 1 Executive Brief highlighting research findings, conclusions, and recommendations (external)

 

Key requirements for partner team:

  • At least a 50%/50% gender balance;
  • Extensive knowledge of current literature/ practice around resilience and livelihood programming in Syria and conflict settings;
  • Willingness and ability to travel to Amman, Jordan, Beirut, Lebanon Gaizentep, Turkey and Hasakah Syria to present preliminary and final findings;
  • Arabic fluency in the team and be able to develop guidance and training in Arabic on the tools and methodology for data collection;
  • Experience in remote management of research;
  • Ability to produce high quality analytical reports in English with limited editorial oversight;
  • If applying as a sole consultant, willingness and ability to work and cooperate as part of a two-person DRC-selected team;
  • Availability to undertake work that aligns to the timing and availability of the Syria programme staff.
