We are looking for a highly qualified Country Director (CD) to manage our dynamic and challenging programme in Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo). It is crucial to DRC that you are experienced, systematic, proficient in French and in English and able to work in a difficult working environment.

Who are we?

The Danish Refugee Council has been present in DR Congo since 2009.

Current interventions are taking place in the areas of Beni, Kichanga, Saké and Goma in North Kivu Province focused on protection activities in IDP and host communities. The protection activities include community protection and empowerment of women in the area of Kitchanga, and child protection in the area of Beni and Sake (in the vicinity of Goma). The country office is based in Goma.

Current donors include SDC, FBA, EC and own funding.

Presently the programme is employing 5 expatriates and 57 local staff.

About the job

From the onset and throughout 2015 the CD will take the lead in fundraising and obtaining new contracts and strategic partnerships with a variety of donors. The CD will also work to establish DRC as a preferred partner NGO for emergency and protection interventions through quality implementation and participation in relevant forums.

As the CD you will be overall responsible for safety, finance and staff management in country.

About you

The new CD is a dynamic person with highly developed analytical and programming qualities as well as strong representational skills. As the CD you have an eye for quality and timing in the approach towards our beneficiaries as well as present and potential donors.

Ideally you will also have experience with protection, and multi-sectorial community driven recovery and emergency approaches.

The availability date is 15 January 2015 or as soon as possible after and the duty station is Goma, North Kivu, DR Congo. Please note that this is a non-family duty station.
