Humanitarian Technical Unit Co-ordinator

£23,000 to £25,000 pa + benefits
Permanent
35 hours per week
Farringdon, London

As our efficient, highly motivated and proactive Humanitarian Technical Unit Co-ordinator for Health, Nutrition, WASH and HIV you'll provide invaluable assistance to a large, dynamic team of technical advisors, helping improve the effectiveness of their support to countries in emergencies.

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our Humanitarian department integrates emergency and development work, through our country programmes. It increases our capacity to meet the assistance and protection needs of children and their families affected by crises. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

As a key part of our Humanitarian Technical Unit (HTU) you'll ensure the smooth-running of the office as you help monitor the team budget, provide general administrative assistance, and get involved in human resources and communications processes. You will provide co-ordination support to specific HTU projects or work streams, and will also:

• Develop and manage systems to create a largely self-serving administrative environment for the team.
• Provide specific support to the Deputy Head of HTU, including diary and inbox management, arranging meetings and dealing with enquiries.
• Liaise with HR to advertise and manage posts via the eRecruitment system, assisting with shortlisting, testing and interviews when required.
• Provide a timely response to external and internal requests for information about the HTU.
• Submit staff expenses claims and invoices to accounts, and keep the deployment database up-to-date with travel and financial information.

To be successful you will have previous experience in a co-ordination / administrative role, an interest in or experience of humanitarian or public health work, a flexible approach and great interpersonal and communication skills. You will also have:

• The ability to work effectively as part of a team in a rapidly changing environment, and at times under extreme pressure.
• Great problem-solving skills, plenty of initiative, and proven organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent computer literacy, including confidence with Microsoft Office systems and electronic diaries.
• A background developing administrative systems, and tracking, monitoring and reporting on budgets.
• A commitment to support cross-organisational initiatives and team work planning.

At Save the Children our mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. If you share our mission, are passionate about making it happen and strongly believe you can contribute then join us and we'll give you every opportunity to succeed. We look forward to hearing from you.
