Education Advisor - Humanitarian

£37,000 to 38,000 per annum + benefits

London

12 months Fixed Term Contract until November 2016

As Humanitarian Education Advisor you will ensure the delivery of high quality, timely and accountable humanitarian education response which ensures children, without discrimination, enjoy their right to education. You will have responsibility for managing education Emergency Response Personnel (ERP).

Save the Children works to increase access to inclusive, quality basic education for the most marginalised children. We are committed to achieving an education ‘breakthrough’ both for children from conflict affected and fragile states and those caught up in emergencies. We believe that education should be provided as an essential life-saving component of humanitarian responses. We have ambitious plans to grow both our own capacity to provide an education focussed response in emergency situations and to ensure that other humanitarian actors and funders recognise the importance of education in emergencies.

You will have substantive operational experience and a track record of success in delivering high quality emergency response programmes in education, in sudden onset and chronic settings and demonstrable strong commitment to Education in Emergencies. You will also have:

• Demonstrable experience in effective team and line management as well as capacity building mentoring and coaching.
• Solid communication skills (lobbying, presentations) combined with strong writing (proposal and reports), financial (experience of working within budget constraints) and analytical skills (to develop recommendations for an appropriate response)
• Flexibility, with the ability to travel at short notice, including to remote and insecure locations for approximately 50% of work time.
