Background

The Programme Funding Department is looking to recruit a Senior Bid Developer to work as part of their global funding team, which raises about £190m annually for Oxfam`s international programme. Oxfam has recently adopted an ambitious new resource mobilisation strategy that seeks to grow income by 10% and build new strategic donor partnerships to leverage impact through to 2015. One of the key pillars of our new strategy is to increase our investment in mobilising resources for long-term development, advocacy, and campaigning programmes, which currently accounts for less than 38% of our total income from institutional donors.

About the role

As Senior Bid Developer you will be responsible for managing the Bid Developer Team and together will be responsible for managing bid development processes involving high value and/or complex global and country funding opportunities from Oxfam GB’s core institutional donors. You and your team will be responsible for leading on all aspects of bid assessment, bid process management, and (when necessary) programme development with strategic funding opportunities for the organisation.

In addition, you will support programme staff in analysing new funding opportunities, scope potential partnerships for multi stakeholder consortium initiatives and prepare groundwork for proposal development. You will provide effective project management for the development of high quality proposals and build capacity at country and regional level by supporting and advising staff on bid development.
The role is based in Oxford and will involve travel to country programmes outside of the United Kingdom equivalent to approximately 12-18 weeks per annum.

About you

You have excellent research and analytical skills and are keen to develop an understanding of Oxfam`s systems and contract management. In addition you will have strong knowledge and experience of working with key institutional donors on realising long term development funding. Importantly you will also have good interpersonal diplomacy, sensitivity, and negotiating skills and the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment across regional boundaries. You will be an inspiring and motivating team leader with strong people management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

About Oxfam

It’s not their problem. It’s ours too. And with the right support, we can beat poverty and injustice. Thousands of people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now we’re looking for yours.
