Contract length: 1 year


The role

The post holder will manage a team that will, together with consortium member support, ensure the provision of nutrition technical advice and support to the Livelihood and Food Security Trust Fund (LIFT), Implementing Partners (IPs), Fund Management Office (FMO) and Fund Board (FB), increasing understanding and practical applications of integrated nutrition and FSL programming.

The post holder will ensure that programming objectives are achieved and that LIFT Implementing Partners are able to successfully integrate nutrition sensitive activities into livelihoods and economic development programming, improving LIFT Implementing Partners project outcomes. The role demands strong analytical understanding of the challenges and opportunities of integrating nutrition sensitive components, activities and outcomes into livelihoods and food security programmes as well as previous programme design, implementation and management experience.

 

Qualifications and experience:

Essential

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in nutrition in developing countries with specific experience and/or advanced understanding of the following; Programme management with experience of leading/working in a consortium, nutrition sensitive food security & livelihoods programme integration, nutrition and Food Security surveillance and monitoring and evaluation systems, training and curriculum development for nutrition technical capacity building
  • Demonstrated expertise in building technical capacity of staff and partners.
  • Experience of designing integrated nutrition and food security programmes and monitoring and/or evaluations.
  • Experience and understanding of Infant and Young Child Feeding Practice programming and integration into other sectors
  • Strong commitment to capacity building of national staff and partners with willingness to adopt a participatory and consultative management approach.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and negotiate clearly and effectively at all levels, taking into account cultural and language difficulties. Tact and diplomacy are essential.
  • Willingness to travel regularly and in difficult circumstances.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

Desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of SPHERE Standard and other principles of humanitarian work.
  • Experience in promoting children’s participation in programme design, implementation and evaluation.
  • Good understanding of poverty reduction strategy framework and related processes.
  • Knowledge of database management tools and data analysis tools (ENA, Advanced Excel functions)
