For more than 30 years, Médecins du Monde, a campaigning medical organisation committed to international solidarity, has been caring for the most vulnerable populations at home and abroad. It has continued to highlight obstacles that exist in accessing health care and has secured sustainable improvements in health-for-all policies. Those working for this independent organisation do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations. MdM currently works in 40 countries across all continents where it focuses on 4 priority areas: caring for the health of migrants and displaced persons, promoting sexual and reproductive health, combating HIV and reducing the harm and risks associated with drug use, crises and conflicts.

In 2015 MdM is starting a new project on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Hepatitis C among people who use drugs in Vietnam.

The project, which should start in October 2015, is built with a coalition of partners (a self-support group, a medical university and an advocacy NGO). For his launching phase, the project will focus on outreach, screening and counselling activities. Médecins du Monde will provide the technical expertise of the project. The local partners’ outreach teams and the staff of the HCV consultation will be in charge of implementing the activities.

DESCRIPTION DU POSTE :

Under the supervision of the General Coordinator (Genco) and in collaboration with the HQ and the Project Officer, the Technical Referent will provide technical support and capacity building on the outreach and counselling activities.

More specifically:

- Initial training

You assess the capacities and gaps of the outreach teams and the staff of the HCV consultationYou design the outreach and counselling training curricula in collaboration with the Vietnam mission and the HQYou lead and provide the initial trainingsYou conduct pre and post training evaluationsYou write a report including recommendations for the future

- On-the-job training

You follow-up the outreach teams in the first three months of the programYou organize continuing learning sessionsYou organize best practices and experiences sharing sessionsYou capacitate the Project Officer on Harm Reduction key principles and activitiesYou develop a programme road map and recommendations for the continuation of outreach, diagnosis and counselling activitiesYou disseminate international best practices in terms of counselingYou build a counselling handbook adapted to the Vietnamese context in collaboration with the partners

- Designing of IEC materials

You assess the needs of the community in terms of IEC material (content, format…)You conduct working sessions with the partnersYou disseminate innovative practices in terms of IEC materialYou accompany the partners in the design of effective and adapted IEC material

PROFIL RECHERCHE :

You have an expertise on Harm Reduction, counselling and outreachYou have an excellent knowledge on Hepatitis CYou have an experience with people who use drugs and also an experience working in developing contextsYou are experienced on training and capacity buildingYou are fluent in English, French is an assetYou have very good communication skillsYou have a great sense of initiatives, resourcefulness, enthusiasticYou are able to work with a multicultural team in a developing country contextYou are committed to MdM’s values as an organisation and motivated by its non-statutory, NFP model.
