Are you an experienced and enthusiastic candidate?  Could you enable Oxfam to respond quickly to the public health engineering requirements of an emergency? Are you able to assess the situation in an immediate emergency stage? We are looking for a person to manage the water and sanitation team and to lead rapid needs assessments, as well as the selection, design and implementation of the best sanitation system.

You will be fundamental to the work of Oxfam, being able to advise and implement the appropriate sanitation system, in consultation with the beneficiaries, which includes excreta disposal, refuse disposal, vector control and drainage.  You will be responsible for the management of the sanitation team including performance management, recruitment, team leave, you will assess sanitation team capacity level and suggest areas of improvement, and you will also have a good command of Arabic language.   You will be familiar with the NGO/Red Cross Code of Conduct, the People in Aid Code, Oxfam International procedures and other regulatory codes (e.g. InterAction Field Co-operation Protocol), ensuring that all programmes take gender and diversity issues fully into account. Please apply if you want to get this exciting opportunity.

Please note that candidates will be considered both for this position, and for our PHE Register.  This register is a database of personnel which Oxfam GB draws upon to fill vacancies in our humanitarian programmes around the world. The register is used primarily in the event of a rapid onset emergency, but also for any short term positions (less than 6 months) which may be suitable. Register members` individual preferences (length of contract, location etc.) are taken into account as far as possible, although the positions offered to register members are usually short term and unaccompanied.
