We are looking for a Grant Administrator to provide efficient and effective administrative and grant management support to the LACMEESA (Latin America, Caribbean, Middle East, Eurasia and Southern Africa) Regional Portfolio Team.

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our UK and Global Programmes department delivers humanitarian and development programmes, builds partnerships with institutional donors – including governments, multi-laterals and trusts – and drives lasting change. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

As Grant Administrator you will support our Regional Portfolio Team in all areas of their work, including ensuring grant management systems are up to date and reviewing and editing donor narrative and financial reports from country offices. You will liaise with counterparts in the other Regional Portfolio Teams to introduce and mainstream common systems and act as first point of contact for general enquiries from other internal departments. In addition, you will:

  • Develop and manage appropriate administrative systems for the Regional Portfolio Team
  • Assist with the co-ordination of overseas travel, insurance and visas for Regional Portfolio Team staff members
  • Provide administrative back up to the Regional Portfolio Teams including the issuing and monitoring of contracts for consultants
  • Provide material support to the “grant debt taskforces” - grant closure and donor communication / invoicing etc.
  • Update SCUK’s financial database with grants budgets as submitted by country offices and support established processes for monitoring of spend and issuing of income requests in collaboration with Programme Managers.

To be successful you will have a background or a strong interest in the field of international development or social/political science. Experience of operating and setting up administrative systems, managing a range of support demands from several colleagues and organising administrative and logistical aspects of meetings and events with limited support is all essential. You will also have:

  • An understanding of institutional and non-institutional donors, in particular, DFID, UNICEF, ECHO and EC
  • The ability to organise and prioritise multiple tasks efficiently, manage reactive and proactive work, and deliver tasks to tight deadlines
  • A high degree of flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing needs and address issues
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and good attention to detail
  • Strong numeracy and flair for financial side of grant reporting
  • Experience in Grants management is desirable.

At Save the Children we are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children in our work. We will do everything possible to ensure that only those who are suitable to work with children are recruited to work for us. This post is subject to a range of vetting checks including a criminal records disclosure.

Our mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. If you share our mission, are passionate about making it happen and strongly believe you can contribute then join us and we'll give you every opportunity to succeed. We look forward to hearing from you.
