We are seeking an experienced People and Planning Manager to increase consistency in financial, HR and planning processes across the division. You will oversee the delivery of a portfolio of people or process projects in line with the divisional and organisational strategy whilst leading on annual planning processes.

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our Policy, Advocacy, andCampaigns department is where we drive political agendas at national and global levels. We’ve integrated lobbying, policy, research and campaigning into one agile, powerful engine for change. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

Working closely with the Director of Influencing and Operations, particularly through delivery of key finance, HR and people governance plans and projects, you will also ensure you offer effective support through the line management of the divisional Coordinators and the PA to the departmental directors. You will also support Coordinators to plan and deliver work effectively through chairing monthly Coordinator meetings, developing team objectives and regular planning. You will also:

  • Strategically negotiate and manage the divisional budget, including financial planning and reporting and oversight of unrestricted funds
  • Actively participate in cross-organisational project groups and boards on behalf of the division as well as other internal projects and committees as required
  • Deliver annual strategic planning processes, including effective strategy development processes through close collaboration with peers in the CEO’s Office, Global Programmes and Marketing, Communications & Fundraising division
  • Deliver effective strategic planning meetings and away-days, capturing and driving delivery of the resulting actions, and ensure the divisional Senior Management Team has effective, strategic meetings against an agreed plan.

To be successful you will have excellent project management skills along with strategic planning and organisational skills. You will also be highly numerate with the ability to rigorously manage the divisional budget and have experience developing and ensuring the implantation of strategies across a range of thematic areas. Experience in leading high-performing teams in strategic deliveries is also essential; along with the ability to matrix manage staff across teams in delivering effective ways of working. You will also have:

  • The ability to work effectively with others – working collaboratively to achieve shared goals
  • Experience of line managing staff or volunteers in a busy office environment
  • The ability to communicate with impact – clearly and confidently
  • The ability to manage multiple objectives and competing demands

Experience working in a large, complex, and/or federated global organisations is desirable, (particularly in the not for profit sector).
