Overview:
Promundo-US, an international non-governmental organization working to promote
gender equality and violence prevention, seeks a full-time fixed term Project
Coordinator to work in Kinshasa, DRC on “Young Men Clubs Against Violence (YMCAV)”,
a new four-year project aimed at preventing and responding to urban violence in
Kinshasa targeting young and adolescent boys (ages 10-19) in schools and communities.
This is a new position.
About Promundo:
Founded in Brazil in 1997, Promundo works internationally to engage men and boys in
advancing gender equality and preventing violence. Promundo’s independently
registered NGOs in the US, Brazil, Portugal, DRC and Rwanda collaborate to conduct
high-quality formative, population-based research; develop and conduct impact
evaluations, scale-up gender transformative interventions; and carry out national and
international advocacy to achieve gender equality and prevent violence. Promundo also
is the co-founder of the MenEngage Alliance, a global network of NGOs and UN agencies
working to engage men and boys in gender equality. Promundo-US, a separate legal
entity, with its office in Washington, DC, coordinates technical assistance internationally,
carries out advocacy globally, supports Promundo’s activities and fundraising across

Purpose of Post:
The Project Coordinator will report to the Promundo-US Program Officer based in
Washington, DC, and will be based in Kinshasa, DRC and hosted by WarChild UK. The
position is based on the fixed term contract until December 2017, with the possibility of
extension for the full duration of project (until the end of 2019).
A) Job Specification: Task and responsibilites:
Promundo-US seeks a full-time Project Coordinator to work in Kinshasa on the Young
Men Clubs Against Violence (YMCAV) project. Duties include:
- Leading and monitoring the project implementation to ensure that activities proceed along the agreed timetable, deliverables are met and results are being documented
- Coordinating project specific events, meetings and workshops
- Coordinating with Promundo’s staff and consultants to ensure project is
implemented as planned
- Monitoring project specific budgets and expenses to ensure compliance with internal and funders guidelines
- Managing organizational relationships with local partners and stakeholders
- Drafting project reports for funders
- Organizing and implementing training workshops in the use of Promundo’s
methodologies and approaches
- Presenting Promundo’s work at seminars and events in the country and in the region
- Leading and Communicating Mission and Vision of the organization
B) Person specification – Essential Criteria:
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- A minimum of three years experience and a track record of success in program
implementation and technical assistance/program delivery in the field
of gender equality
- A minimum of three years experience and a track record of success in project and budget coordination
- Excellent English and French writing and speaking skills
- Ability to handle pressure and multiple deadlines, and ability to adapt to a fast pace
- and changing environment and improve through the process
- Excellent people skills and ability to relate to a diverse team
- Honesty and reliability
- Using and developing knowledge for the good of the organization, contributing to
and extracting value from colleagues and external networks
- Ability to proactively celebrate great performance and hold people accountable for poor performance against objectives and the needs of the organization

Desired Qualifications
- DRC experience preferred
- Experience with community mobilization or behavior change programs
- Proven expertise facilitating collaborative work with project partners and ability to communicate effectively with a high level of tact and diplomacy

- Strong analytical skills.
C) Contract Terms
The position is full-time and includes benefits:
- Housing allowance (up to $1000 per month)
- Per Diem ($35 per day in Kinshasa)
- Pension up to 5% of gross salary
- Medical insurance
- R&R allowance (including the flights)
- Annual flight allowance $1000 per annum (not including the cost of flight when joining the contract and at the end of the contract)
- Personal call allowance ($240 per annum)
- Training allowance (up to $500 per annum)
- 30 days annual leave.
Salary range is $33000-38000 gross amount per annum based on salary history and
previous experience, excluding the afore-mentioned benefits. Candidates should have a
bachelor's degree and experience working in an office environment.
