We are looking for a highly qualified candidate that has the skills to engage in our organization as Shelter Coordinator based in Beirut.


Who are we?

DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects.DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.
Since May 2011, DRC has been actively involved in the Lebanon emergency response to the Syrian crisis with presence in the North, East (Bekaa valley) and South of Lebanon. The DRC response is designed around 4 majors sectors: Food /NFI distribution, Protection, Shelter and livelihood support. As such, DRC is positioned in Lebanon as a main implementing partner of UNHCR, UNICEF, WFP, ECHO, DfID and DANIDA among other donors.

Duties
The shelter Coordinator has the overall responsibility for leading, coordinating and overseeing DRC shelter activities in the DRC areas of operations over Lebanon.
•    Provide technical support, guidance and follow up to the shelter team; 
•    Ensure that staff adhere to shelter best-practice and professional standard and principles through capacity-building and on-the-job support; 
•    Identify technical gaps in the program and identify/implement solutions to meet these gaps; 
•    Develop comprehensive and tailored capacity building plans for shelter staff and implementing partners based on respective needs and ensuring quality services;
•    Develop SoPs and relevant tools as per need and take care of the roll out and follow up of their implementation
•    Thorough follow up of the Strategy, methodologies, SoPs and tools implementation at field level and report to the Heads of Office and the head of Programme on deviations from the agreed framework. 
•    Assist the field-based shelter managers in the assurance of donor compliance, including appropiate and timely spending of grants to achieve program goals, grants reporting contributions, use and distribution of supplies and resources; 
•    In coordination with the Grants Manager support the submission of timely, accurate and well-written donor reports and other reporting requirements of shelter programming;
•    Design and coordinate the shelter strategy for DRC Lebanon after consultation with field-based managers;  
•    Repesent DRC before relevant donors at Beirut and, when relevant, field levels on shelter programming and shelter-related issues;
•    Activity participate in Shelter Working Group, field-working groups and relevant Task forces


About you
To be successful in this role you must havea minimum of 5 years field experience including duty stations in hostile security environments; Relevant degree preferably related to architecture, planning or civil engineering; Practical experience with planning and implementation of housing repair and construction projects; Management experience with medium-size infrastructure projects in development settings; full proficiency in spoken and written English. 
Proficiency in Arabic is considered an advantage
