Role overview
Train, support & give feedback to PNG nurse educators in teaching and training strategies 

Demonstrate high quality nurse lectures and training sessions 

Work with other volunteers and colleagues to develop new nurse education training units, videos and resources 

Build the management capacity of the heads of department 

Train and assess student nurses and in service nurses in how they deliver clinical services 

Support the monitoring and evaluation of the program, including monthly reporting 

Share new materials with other volunteers in the team and nurse educators around the country 

Contribute to the wider improvement at the college through being an active member of the academic community 

Due to the nature of our volunteer placements, it is possible that the responsibilities of this role may differ in reality and therefore the post-holder will need to be prepared to be flexible and adapt to their environment as necessary

Skills, qualifications and experience required
Essential 
•    At least five years of experience as a nurse with teaching responsibilities 
•    Degree or advanced degree in nursing 
•    Able to demonstrate excellent practice in the lecture room 
•    Fluent English proficiency 
•    Knowledge of nurse teaching and assessment methods 
•    Experience mentoring or training other health workers 
•    IT skills (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)

This is an exciting opportunity to work with local nursing colleges to revise the national nursing curriculum and build the capacity of nurse educators. You will play a vital role in increasing the number and quality of nurses in a country where the national average of 4.6 registered nurses per 10,000 population continues to sit well below the regional average of 19.5, and the nursing workforce is ageing.
