About 350.org

350.org is building a global grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis. Our online campaigns, grassroots organizing, and mass public actions are led from the bottom up by thousands of volunteer organizers in over 188 countries. 350.org works hard to organize in a new way—everywhere at once, using online tools to facilitate strategic offline action. We want to be a laboratory for the best ways to strengthen the climate movement and catalyze transformation around the world.

350.org is supporting a grassroots organised action this summer, targeting Europe’s biggest source of CO2 emissions - the Rheinland coal region.  As part of our call to freeze fossil fuel projects, we are demanding we phase out existing dirty projects and begin the just transition sooner rather than later.  Taking action together - and mobilising across the region - to leave fossil fuels in the ground is crucial for framing the climate crisis in the lead up to the Paris negotiations and beyond.

About the Network Mobiliser

As we focus our energies to mobilise Europeans to take part in mass action on climate ahead of the climate summit in Paris, we are looking for an organised individual who can connect with key groups, mainly in France, Netherlands and Belgium, as well as beyond and support and organise logistics for people to participate in the action.

Responsibilities:

  • Mobilising large delegations of people from outside of Germany to take part in an action in the Rheinland
  • Liaising with key groups we identify should be joining the action
  • Organising logistics to enable groups to participate
  • Support in organising for mobilising needs, e.g. trainings, legal briefings
  • Developing online resources and materials to support mobilisation efforts

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience of organising logistics for large scale events
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in English and French or English and German
  • Proven time management and organisational skills.

Desired (but not required) skills and experiences (A successful applicant will probably have 2 or 3 of these)

  • Connections with regional social justice groups around Europe we can invite to the action
  • Experience of organising international events and mobilisations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse teams
  • Relevant experience in social media and online organising to support campaigns and campaign groups

Position Type:  3 days a week from May until the end of August 2015

Application Deadline: To apply, please go to this link. This position is open until filled, but we hope to begin interviews by the first week in June.

Compensation: Competitive compensation, based on experience

Location: This position can be based anywhere in Europe, although some travel to Germany will likely be required.
