We are looking for an experienced and committed individual to join us as Humanitarian Nutrition Advisor and ensure the delivery of high quality, timely and accountable humanitarian nutrition programmes in close collaboration with other sectors, SCI and Save the Children members.

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our Humanitarian Department integrates emergency and development work, through our country programmes. It increases our capacity to meet the assistance and protection needs of children and their families affected by crises. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

As Humanitarian Nutrition Advisor, you willbe responsible for a large and dynamic nutrition portfolio of priority humanitarian responses, and be required to travel approximately 30% of your time. You will provide technical assistance, manage nutrition surge staff, and contribute to global humanitarian initiatives and technical groups. Reporting to the Humanitarian Nutrition Senior Advisor, you will act as the Capacity Building focal point in the delivery of the Health and Nutrition in Emergencies trainings and Diploma’s and participate in the development of the Humanitarian Capacity Building Strategy and Curriculum. In addition you will:

  • Provide common frameworks, tools and guidance to country programmes to ensure high quality interventions and advocacy in humanitarian nutrition programmes;
  • Be the lead for nutrition for CASH and gender programming within the Emergency Nutrition Working Group
  • Develop and deliver country level, regional and global nutrition workshops/trainings for humanitarian nutrition staff
  • Manage key nutrition grants;
  • Contribute to in-house key strategies development, including the centenary commitment and the public health strategy, implementation plan and monitoring systems;
  • Improve internal learning and knowledge sharing through the maintenance of the Emergency Nutrition Working Group site.

To be successful you will have significant experience of, and a track of record of success in delivering high quality humanitarian nutrition programmes. A good understanding and practical experience of the cluster approach at country and global level is essential, as is the ability to work effectively independently and within the large nutrition team. In addition you will have:

  • A sound understanding of, and commitment to SC programme approaches and core standards in humanitarian response
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing IYCFE and CMAM programs in a variety of contexts;
  • Strong communication skills at a level appropriate for high level external representation and the ability to tailor communications to different audiences
  • The ability to analyse diverse information and develop recommendations for an appropriate response
  • Highly developed writing skills
  • The ability to travel at short notice, occasionally to remote and insecure locations for around 30% of work time.

Working knowledge of French and Spanish is desirable.
