Protection Analyst/Statistician

Bangui, Central African Republic

 

We are looking for a highly qualified and motivated Protection Analyst/Statistician to support DRC’s protection activities in the Central African Republic (CAR).

 

Who are we?

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has been operating in CAR since 2007 and is covering three Prefectures: Ouham, Ouham Pendé, Bamingui-Bangoran as well as in Bangui. DRC is one of the largest INGOs in the CAR in terms of area of operation and has recently scaled-up its activities to respond to the growing needs of displaced and other conflict-affected populations.

 

About the job

The position is based within the Cluster Protection information management unit, under the supervision of the Cluster Protection Co-Lead. The Statistician/Analyst will collect and document information about protection incidents in the country and produce analyses for the Protection Cluster to support the humanitarian response in terms of protection.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

-         Following-up on the global situation in CAR and on specific issues regarding protection of civilians;

-         Verify reported information through a network of humanitarian partners and with field missions;

-         Ensuring quality data management within the Cluster Protection database and other information management tools;

-         Identifying gaps in the information management tools to adapt them to protection needs;

-         Working closely with the coordination of the Cluster Protection to produce oral and written analyses in a timely fashion ;

-         Perform other relevant tasks as required

 

 

 

About you

To be successful in this role you must have:

-         Advance degree in social science, law, information management or any relevant field;

-         Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience;

-         Fluency in French and English.

-         Sound knowledge of protection of civilians and humanitarian activities in emergencies.

-         Demonstrated experience with databases and good knowledge of database tools (including Excel and Access);

-         Experience in producing written analyses on complex issues.

-         Excellent liaison skills, ability to work with a broad range of partners and stakeholders;

-         Ability to work under pressure and with strict deadlines.

-         NGO and international experience;

-         Willingness to live and work in an emergency situation.

 

 

We offer

DRC will offer the successful applicant a 8 months contract. You must be available immediately and be willing and able to work in Bangui, CAR.
