Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is currently recruiting for the position of a Regional Desk Co-ordinator, who will play a key role in providing support to allocated country offices in delivery effective programmes according to the Country Programme and Regional Strategies and raising the profile amongst donors and potential funders.

The role will be responsible for keeping an up to-date overview of operational matters in the Region, with knowledge of IRW activities in Country Offices. Part of this responsibility will involve assisting Country Offices to produce high-quality project proposals for funding from both IRW and institutional donors through field visits. This, for example, would involve taking an executive role in the final draft and sending of donor documents. In conjunction with the Country Director, the post-holder will manage, lead and develop several key staff to ensure the effective management and delivery of work in country including persons responsible for administration, finance and programmes. The role will also analyse the security situation and humanitarian space in a country and whether it is capable of taking the offer of funds. To further compliment this, the successful candidate will collate and compile reports and produce data which feed into the Annual Report of IRW. The RDC will communicate with a range of IR partners, institutional and private donors and other international NGOs related to issues concerning respective countries and regarding the implementation of projects. This role would include travel to IRW Country/Field Offices for 40% of the year.

It is essential that the candidate has a graduate degree or equivalent experience in development/humanitarian areas, with an in-depth understanding of international development issues and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. This is to be coupled with a proven track record of working in a similar role with an International NGO and experience of successfully fundraising and dealing with institutional donors and international donors. The ideal candidate is expected to have good interpersonal skills including the ability to listen, sensitivity to others’ views and perspectives, and conflict resolution. The candidate must have the willingness to travel at very short notice. Written and spoken command of regional languages would be considered an added value.

Please note that all successful candidates will be subject to screening.

If you are reliable, service minded, discreet, dedicated and a highly motivated professional, with a strong commitment to IRW’s values and beliefs, please apply by downloading the application form from our website www.islamic-relief.org/work-with-us/ and forward the completed form to recruitment@irworldwide.org on or before the closing date.
