Oxfam seeks to recruit a senior development sector professional who will manage our strategic partnership with the UK government and help us identify new opportunities of cooperation.

At present, the UK Government is the single largest bilateral donor partner to Oxfam. We collaborate in a variety of different ways to improve outcomes for people living in poverty – through a multi-annual strategic partnership agreement, through technical exchanges and learning, and through financial cooperation totalling more than €30 million per year to deliver programmes around the world.

We seek to enhance our strategic partnership with the Department for International Development (DfID). in each of these areas, and wish to appoint a seasoned professional to manage our existing relationships, identify new opportunities for expansion, and promote more effective cooperation on poverty reduction.

The UK Government Partnerships Manager  will serve as the focal point for partnerships between the UK Government with a primary focus on As portfolio manager they will also facilitate cooperation with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and other government agencies delivering humanitarian and long-term development assistance.

We are looking for a senior development professional with significant experience, knowledge, and understanding of bilateral donor agencies and the aid sector. We seek to recruit someone with a track record of success in new business development and building mutually beneficial partnerships with institutional donors.

As manager of our largest portfolio, you will be expected to develop and implement a new business development strategy for the organisation that will forge more strategic partnerships between Oxfam and the UK Government. You will be able to spot new opportunities for technical cooperation and funding. In this highly challenging role, you will be a strong negotiator and communicator who is able to work with colleagues at national, regional, and affiliate levels in an empowering and supportive way. You will possess a proven track record of successful delivery of results for an international agency comparable to Oxfam and ideally experience of working at a senior level with bilateral donor agencies.

This position is situated within a team of partnership portfolio managers working in the Programme Funding Department of Oxfam GB headquartered in Oxford. The location of the job can be either in London or in Oxford, and will involve regular travel both inside and outside the UK equivalent to approximately 6-8 weeks per year.
