SCOPE

Based in Antakya, this position will work with the Grants Coordinator and Grants Unit staff to maintain quality grants management for emergency and recovery  grants in the country program,  in response to the Syrian crisis. Reporting to the Grants Coordinator, this position will work closely with program managers, finance and operations on compliance, donor regulations and reporting.

The Grants Manager will liaise with all program and operational units of IRC Turkey and the regional unit in Amman, as well as at IRC’s NY headquarters and IRC London.   

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Grants and Compliance

  • Submit high quality activity and donor reporting on a timely basis according to IRC and Donor regulations. Ensure all required documents are included, complete, correct and approved by the respective Program Coordinator/s and country management.
  • Provide technical guidance on IRC and donor regulations to ensure compliance within operations, program implementation and reporting. Raise compliance issues proactively with program staff and the Grants Coordinator.
  • Keep the Grants Coordinator informed of any projected inabilities to meet contractual obligations, report submission and spend rates/significant budget variances. Also, be able to proactively mitigate risks through proposing remedial solutions.
  • Support the organization and follow-up of grant opening meetings, monthly grant review meetings, and grant close out meetings in collaboration with the Grants Coordinator.  
  • Ensure the maintenance of  the grants library in Antakya, which includes keeping hard and soft copies of all grant related material filed appropriately and in a timely manner.

Capacity Building/Mentorship

  • In conjunction with the Grants Coordinator help to build the capacity and develop learning opportunities  for national grants and program staff through formal training sessions, mentoring and coaching in the areas of project management cycle, reporting and proposal development.
  • Work closely with the Grants Coordinator to develop a comprehensive grants capacity building training plan to role out with the Program Managers, in coordination with the Technical Coordinators.

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree preferred – international development or similar, or Bachelors Degree with significant grants management experience and superior writing skills.
  • Demonstrated field-based experience with grants management.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of USAID/OFDA, EU/ECHO, DFID and other donor rules and regulations.
  • Proven competency with program design, proposal writing (including logical frameworks) and building budgets.
  • Excellent English writing, grammar and editing skills and experience in writing proposals/concept notes.
  • Good management and coordination skills.
  • Previous experience conducting trainings or capacity building with multi-cultural teams preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while being a strong team player.

Work Environment

The position will be based in Antakya, Turkey, and is an unaccompanied post. The IRC’s security phase for Antakya  is currently yellow.
