We are looking for an experienced and analytical individual to join us our team as Research Call Coordinator.

Research for Health in Humanitarian Crises (R2HC) is one of Elrha’s cutting edge programmes in humanitarian research. The programme supports research programmes that aim to improve health outcomes by strengthening the evidence base for public health interventions in humanitarian crises.

The R2HC programme aims to initiate a rapid call for research proposals in response to the current famine crisis, through the piloting of a new responsive grant mechanism. The objective will be to provide grants to conduct public health research on priority issues in the context of the current hunger crisis in the Horn of Africa and Nigeria, through short term operational research. This will be facilitated through a competitive selection process using fast track processes designed to expedite rapid proposal development, review and contracting. .

Guided by the R2HC Programme Manager, and in collaboration with the Portfolio Manager, the Hunger Crisis Research Call Coordinator will coordinate the day to day management of the rapid call for research proposals. In addition, the successful candidate will oversee the management of a call for research proposals.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Proven experience of project management, and ideally of grant management processes
  • Strong all-round communication skills, especially in writing and editing
  • Self-starter with excellent organisational skills, high level of attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to use initiative and to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise and communicate with research and programme staff and other colleagues, at all levels of seniority
  • Strong analytical skills and ability with Excel in particular
  • Demonstrable interest in humanitarian affairs, global health and and the role of research to improve the quality of public health responses.
  • Ability to start immediately
