WorldFish

Appointment of Director, Finance and Operations

Do you want to make a difference?

Do you want to improve the lives of the poor?

If so we want to hear from you.

WorldFish, a member of the CGIAR Consortium, is an international, nonprofit research organization. CGIAR is a global partnership that unites organizations engaged in research for a food secure future. CGIAR research is dedicated to reducing rural poverty, increasing food security, improving human health and nutrition, and ensuring more sustainable management of natural resources. It is carried out by the 15 centers who are members of the CGIAR Consortium in close collaboration with hundreds of partner organizations, including national and regional research institutes, civil society organizations, academia, and the private sector.

WorldFish is committed to meeting two key development challenges:

1) improving the livelihoods of those who are especially poor and vulnerable in places where fisheries and aquaculture can make a difference;

2) achieving large scale, environmentally sustainable, increases in supply and access to fish at affordable prices for poor consumers in developing countries.

A unique opportunity has arisen for gifted individuals to contribute to the mission of the organization.

We are now seeking to recruit a truly exceptional Director, Finance and Operations who can contribute to the future viability of WorldFish with significant strategic, financial and operational expertise and a clear commitment to our overall mission to reduce poverty and increase food and nutrition security. The role would be based in Penang, Malaysia.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the future incumbent will be a thought partner on our Executive Team; s/he will provide overall strategic leadership of Finance, Legal, Grants/ Contract Management, IT, and administrative functions. Vision, professional rigour, a flair for developing talent, and demonstrated strategic and business acumen will form the basis of the candidate's ability to ensure that these functions play a critical role in the growth of WorldFish and the impact that we can have on the world around us.

Among other essential requirements, candidates will need to bring experience and understanding of multi-national private sector, inter-governmental organisation or international NGO environments as well as previous experience of being part of or leading an executive leadership team.
