Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is currently recruiting for the position of a Trainee Regional Desk Officer, who will provide support to the regional desk in delivery of effective programmes according to the Country Programme and Regional Strategies. This responsibility will provide extensive opportunity for travel to IRW Country Offices. The role will assist programmes development and implementation which may involve appraising project proposals submitted by country offices to ensure that they have clear sense of purpose and direction. The role will also require the post holder to assist in budget planning and preparation in line with project proposal and assessments undertaken. S/he, additionally, will provide assistance in reporting, analysis, innovative thinking and problem-solving.
It is essential that the successful candidate has a graduate degree or equivalent experience in development/humanitarian areas. This should be combined with proven track record of working in a similar role with an International NGO or the successful completion of a trainee programme for this role. The post holder should have good interpersonal skills including the ability to listen, sensitivity to others’ views and perspectives, and conflict resolution. Accompanied by experience of distance management, the successful candidate must be able to work with the most vulnerable groups including women and children. S/he should also have a good team work skills with the ability to work with different and sometime conflicting agendas.
