As our new interns you will have the opportunity to become acquainted with the work within an international NGO, focusing on supporting the daily operation of the Roster and thereby the positioning of the DRC Stand-by Roster as one of the leading Stand-by Rosters supporting the UN.

You will be a part of the Deployment Team of our Stand-by Roster in relation to deployment of experts to our UN partners, i.e. practical tasks related to initiation of the deployments, continuous follow up on ongoing deployment and support to the deployees, and debriefing and closure of deployments, including financial settlements, and invoicing.
 
Who are we?
You will become a part of the DRC Stand-by Roster Unit, managing a selection of Rosters, with experts who with a short notice can be deployed to the UN’s global humanitarian operations. The DRC Stand-by Roster works in close cooperation with partner UN agencies and all tasks including continuous development of the capacity of the Stand-by Roster, are lifted by a team consisting of the Head of Unit, a Project Coordinator, three Admin Desk Officers, one Recruitment Officer, and Interns/Student Assistants. The Stand-by Roster is a unit in the ‘Division of Emergency, Safety and Supply’ (DESS), which is one of three divisions in the International Department of the Danish Refugee Council.

Your qualifications
You will mainly be involved in deployments of experts to our UN partners. This requires that you are engaged within administration, human resources, or a similar field of study. You should furthermore be able to meet the following requirements:
  • Be enlisted at a university for a relevant education
  • Have completed a minimum of two years of higher education
  • Be fluent in both spoken and written English
  • Are able to navigate in a challenging environment and handle a wide complexity of tasks
  • Have an interest in communication / international affairs
 Conditions:
The internship is unpaid
Availability: To start approximately  15. January 2015
Duration: At least 5 months
The interns will be working at the Danish Refugee Council’s headquarter in Copenhagen and will report to the Head of Unit of the DRC Stand-by Roster.
