Role overview
Coaching and training for other nurses in new-born survival units and childrens department in rural hospitals.

Skills, qualifications and experience required
An ideal candidate will have ALL of the qualities below, but we anticipate appointing candidates who many not have all but have a strong clinical background, some relevant work experience and most importantly teaching / coaching experience in the health sector.

Qualifications are either:
Qualification as a pediatric nurse or senior midwife OR nurses with Advanced degree and an advanced clinical background on pediatric care

Essential:
• At least 7 years work experience in pediatric care with progressively increasing responsibilities
• Prior training experience; excellent clinical training skills including participatory and experiential methods.
• Current knowledge in the field of maternal and pediatric health, including some or all of the following: new born care, neonatal resuscitation, neonatal jaundice, neonatal infection etc.
• Solid communication, presentation and writing skills.
• Demonstrated self-management (i.e. motivation, dealing with pressure, adaptability).
• Willingness to live outside of Yangon and work in a rural or semi-rural district.

Desirable:
• Knowledge of strategic planning, training program development, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.
• Myanmar Language (failing which a translator will be provided).
• Previous developing country work experience

Working in a hospital struggling with a lack of staff skills and resources this is a unique opportunity to develop the skills of colleagues in a setting where foreigners are rarely able to stay. The overall project partner will simultaneously provide basic equipment and training the hospital and your work will be to embed good practice and routine use of new skills, knowledge and modern equipment.
