AOAV is seeking Experts in the field of Mine Action and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) to sit on its Roster of Experts. From time to time, AOAV requires specialists in the Mine Action and EOD field to complete short to medium term consultancies, including technical assessments, strategic and action planning, dangerous area survey evaluations, support to mine action centres, technical support and quality assurance evaluations.  These consults may take place anywhere in the world, and are often required on short notice. As such, AOAV requires a roster of pre-approved Experts, who are experienced in the field and have strong skillsets to deploy for short-term assignments.

 Expert Criteria

All candidates being considered for inclusion on the Roster should meet the following criteria:

  • Have a relevant skills set, particular experience, substantive and/or functional competency in programming or research relating to mine action/clearance of explosive remnants of war (ERW); weapons management;
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience with international development organisations, government, or non-governmental organisations (NGOs), focusing on the issues of armed violence prevention and reduction, victim assistance, conflict management, or other related fields;
  • Are generally available and interested in conducting short-term assignments on behalf of AOAV or other armed violence prevention actors, including those based in developing countries;

 What is the AOAV Roster of Experts?

The Roster of Experts is AOAV’s database of expert advisors in the fields of armed violence reduction and prevention. The Roster includes some of the most influential individuals in the field of armed violence reduction and victim assistance.  It will allow AOAV and other interested organisations to engage with these experts for consultancies, short-term projects, and long-term assignments. AOAV is currently accepting applications and nominations for experts in all areas of reducing armed violence and prevention, with a particular focus on:

  • Mine Action and Explosive Ordnance Disposal
  • Small Arms and Light Weapons Control
  • Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration
  • Employment generation in a post-conflict setting
  • Psychosocial support and counselling
