Role and Responsibilities

To facilitate the objectives of the Medair international HQ, country programmes and affiliate offices, by enabling effective information management and communications, supported by appropriate technology and training. To provide support to users for PC Hardware, Software Applications and Phone issues.

 

Medair Headquarters

Medair Headquarters (HQ) provides operational guidance for country programmes and activities, along with both technical and compassionate support for our relief workers. Within our headquarters, we are also responsible for promoting the work of Medair to the world, to raise and manage the funds needed to run our life-saving and sustaining programmes. Our headquarters teams are also responsible for recruiting international and HQ staff, and like our field teams, we are committed to serve the world’s most vulnerable with practical and compassionate care.

Initial Contract Details

Full time, open ended contract

 

Key Activity Areas

Helpdesk  

  • Troubleshooting assigned tickets.
  • Maintaining written details of solutions.
  • Escalation & Tracking of more difficult issues to ICT & IS Specialists.

 

Administration

  • Inventory tracking of all HQ Hardware and Software.
  • Repairs tracking for Field and HQ.
  • Stock management for HQ IT consumables.

 

PC’s - Desktops and Laptops

  • Imaging of New Field / HQ Laptops and Desktops.
  • Installation of HQ User Desktops and Laptops, and Telephones.
  • Train HQ staff by creating help documents and tips / tricks.
  • Troubleshooting of Hardware problems.

Application Support

  • Troubleshoot User issues on MS Office, the Intranet, & Navigator, etc.

 

HQ Phone Administration

  • Creation of New User Telephone extensions and Voice Mailboxes.

 

Qualifications

  • Recognised apprenticeship in Informatics & Networks

 

Languages

  • Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written)
  • Working knowledge of French (spoken and written) desirable

 

Experience / Competencies

  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in an IT support  role desirable
  • Experience with an NGO desirable
  • Solid understanding of MS Office
  • Good understanding of PC Hardware Skilled in trouble-shooting software and hardware problems
  • Basic hardware repair experience / Advanced knowledge of Windows 7 and MS Office 2010 desirable
  • Analytical and detailed approach to IS
  • Ready and willing to learn on the job, and from the IS / ICT Specialists
  • Works effectively in a wide variety of situations
  • Servant minded, focussed on needs, not technology
  • Able and willing to work as part of a team, respecting and sensitive to colleagues
  • Able to train and coach users
  • Autonomous: manages own work and resources in an organised way that meets time bound objectives.

  • Committed Christians; commitment to the Medair values
  • Reflect the vision and values of Medair when interacting with team members and external contacts
  • At least one year of professional experience in a relevant field (more experience preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written)
  • Working knowledge of French (spoken and written) for French-speaking roles
  • Competent with MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Motivated by a spirit of service
  • Solid team player
