Scope

Strong Supply Chain support is a key to the success and delivery of quality programs.  IRC defines Supply Chain as those systems and support functions necessary to implement programs effectively, inclusive of procurement, logistics, inventory management, property and asset management as well as vehicle and fleet management.  The Supply Chain Planner, Emergency Response works in close collaboration with suppliers, the Emergency Program Response Unit (EPRU), Global Supply Chain based in NY, and the supply chain teams in countries on the emergency watch list to develop and support supply plans that will enable rapid response to crises. 

 

Position Summary

Job Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to develop the supply plan in advance of emergency responses, and work with suppliers to track capacity and inventory levels, as well as procurement teams to ensure essential supplier agreements are in place. This role is also responsible to provide demand input to develop supplier capacity plans. The position objective is to manage the inventory planning with the goal of ensuring inventory availability and overall supplier readiness.

 

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Ensure a complete supply plan is in place for all items required in watch-list countries
  • Lead and execute the Demand and Supply Planning process for emergency response
  • Collaborate with global, regional and field supply chain teams
  • Support field teams as needed with supplier engagement including developing agreements
  • Responsible for the integrity and effectiveness of Planning Model and Planning Tools
  • Responsible for developing Key Performance Indicators (KPI) related to the Planning process
  • Is responsible for overseeing the forecasting and collaborative demand planning processes
  • Works in coordination with emergency program team on developing the distribution plan
  • Participates in the development of order fulfillment policies and sets appropriate inventory targets consistent with these policies
  • Build and manage relationships with external service providers to ensure readiness
  • Establish written procedures (SOP’s) to support the execution of the demand/supply planning requirements
  • Selection and use of statistical models to drive improved accuracy
  • Facilitate monthly Demand Validation meetings as part of the overall P&OP Process
  • Continuously review the shipments vs. forecast and adjust plans as needed.
  • Work with logistics teams supporting warehouse capacity and resource planning

 

Professional Standards

All IRC staff are required to adhere to THE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies.

 

Requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Finance, Engineering or Operations Research preferred
  • Understanding of supply networks and experience in network analysis and optimization
  • 5+ years experience in supply chain planning and forecasting
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and conceptual thinking skills needed.
  • Effective data and statistical analysis needed
  • Excellent oral/written communication and computer skills; Microsoft Office, Excel, and warehouse or inventory management system required.
  • Proficiency in PC based software tools (Microsoft Office Suite), and Planning software tools (i.e. SAP, APO, Manugistics, Logility, Oracle)
  • APICS certification or progress towards certification preferred
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible as required and communicate proactively with internal and external partners
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and dynamic team environment
