As the Senior Evidence, Effectiveness and Accountability (EEA) Advisor you will lead the EEA team and ensure that they are focused on improving the quality and accountability of Save the Children’s emergency response programmes, through developing and supporting consistent, coherent and practical Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning (MEAL) approaches.

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our Humanitarian department integrates emergency and development work, through our country programmes. It increases our capacity to meet the assistance and protection needs of children and their families affected by crises. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

We aim to deliver humanitarian action that is timely, at appropriate scale and scope, providing quality technical programming, efficiently, effectively, safely and securely for the most vulnerable children and their families.

The work of the Humanitarian EEA is crucial to delivering our goal.  This team directly supports emergency responses, delivers strategic projects that aim to improve the effectiveness of responses around the world, and also supports the work of the humanitarian department to be more evidence-informed.

In this role you will manage the EEA Advisors, a Humanitarian Learning & Research Manager, up to four roving Emergency Response Personnel, and technical trainees, collectively forming the Humanitarian EEA Team. To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive experience in international development
  • A track record of success in contributing to the delivery of high quality emergency response programmes
  • A strong understanding of quality, accountability and effectiveness initiatives in the humanitarian sector
  • Successfully implemented MEAL mechanisms, have planned and delivered evaluation, and have solid knowledge of data collection methods
  • Experience in using data analysis software such as SPSS or NVIVO would be a definitive advantage
  • Highly developed writing skills, both at a programmatic level and policy level
  • The ability to collaborate with, mobilise and develop highly effective teams and working groups, with limited resources.

You will have a flexible and initiative-taking attitude with the ability to manage and prioritise your workload, including willingness and ability to travel abroad for up to 12 weeks per year, often at short notice.

At Save the Children our mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. If you share our mission, are passionate about making it happen and strongly believe you can contribute then join us and we`ll give you every opportunity to succeed. We look forward to hearing from you.
