We are looking for a driven, effective and well-organised Strategy and Operations Manager to manage the implantation of our new strategy and ensure we have a strong operational platform for all our work across the UK’s four nations.

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children.Our work in the UK tackles child poverty and addresses its impact on children. Working across the UK, we develop and evaluate new ways to support children and their families to transform the life chances of children and to influence the children’s services sector.

As UK Strategy and Operations Manager you will manage all aspects of our strategy implementation across a number of different work streams, integrating it with our planning and reporting process and proactively solving implementation issues. You will support our Programme and Policy, Advocacy and Campaigns directors and the UK leadership team to work effectively together as a team and make strategic and timely decisions. You will also ensure that our operational platform is maintained and strengthened and that all our staff are well motivated, engaged and empowered to achieve their best for children. In addition you will:

  • Manage the annual planning and budgeting process and reporting against them
  • Manage the oversight and reporting of our programme and operational delivery across the UK
  • Support the directors to ensure a high functioning leadership team work well together
  • Manage internal communications throughout the year, including the annual staff conference
  • Oversee key areas of infrastructure, processes and systems for UK Programmes.

To be successful you will have experience solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy-in and experience developing and implementing strategy across a complex set of departments/teams. You will be a well organised strategic thinker to ensure our operations remain strong and successful. You will be keen to learn and develop actively seeking feedback and ways to improve and able to build and maintain good relationship with high level stakeholders. Highly developed IT skills are essential and in addition you will have:

  • Experience of change management and of designing and implementing planning cycles and systems
  • Experience working with operational budgets and systems in a complex organisation
  • Excellent skills in work planning and managing a diverse workload and set of priorities in order to meet deadlines to a consistently high standard
  • The ability to engage well with team members, remain calm under pressure and be supportive to colleagues.
