The MAG Somalia programme is operating in a complex political and security environment and has expanded significantly in the last year, with operations firmly established in Somaliland, Puntland and in South Central Somalia. The Somalia programme is also operating through partnerships in Jubaland. The two main areas of focus are physical security and stockpile management (PSSM) and community safety and security (CSS).

As Country Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the effective integration of strategic, programmatic and operational management of the Somalia programme. This role will provide you with the opportunity to use your people management skills, leading a diverse team of international and national staff operating across a geographically varied environment. You will also have the opportunity to use your skills in business development to network and interact with donor and other stakeholder. Managing a number of different projects, including oversight of a Finance Manager and Deputy Country Director responsible for the programme support systems this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced project or programme manager to challenge themselves, working in a senior leadership role in a dynamic context. 

The Country Director will be required to travel to all MAG’s operational bases in Somalia, as well as spending time in Nairobi for liaison purposes. As well as skills in people, project and financial management, you will need previous experience working overseas in senior management roles in an international context, managing large scale projects, from project design through to monitoring and evaluation.
