We are looking for a passionate and energetic individual to join us as Planning & Reporting Officer, a key position within the Global Academy Office (GAO) Operations Team. You will ensure coordination and accountability throughout the network of centres, supporting GAO Directors and Centre Directors.

The mission of the Humanitarian Leadership Academy is to enable people around the world to prepare for and respond to crises in their own countries. The Academy works with the humanitarian sector and new partners from the technology industry, private sector and universities to help communities become more resilient in the face of disaster and give them the training and skills to respond to crises in their own countries.

As Planning & Reporting Officer you will support the GAO and each centre to develop an ambitious, yet practical, Annual Plan and aligned budget and ensure delivery of good quality, regular reporting including progress against the Centre’s Annual Plan and achievement of agreed key performance indicators. In addition you will:

  • Be responsible for the development and application of business planning and budgeting processes
  • Coordinate the development of Annual Centre Plan and ensure those plans are aligned throughout the network, and include a realistic budget
  • Ensure processes are in place regularly review Centre Plans and budgets
  • Develop, regularly review and ensure the smooth operation of the GAO and Academy Centre’s management reporting system
  • Advise and support Centres to put in place robust systems for planning, performance tracking and reporting of grantees, sub-grantees, service providers and partners.

To be successful you will have a BA/BS or above, or significant equivalent leadership experience, in a relevant subject and be fluent in a second language. Patient, tactful and diplomatic you will be politically and culturally sensitive with experience working in middle or low income countries. In addition you will have:

  • Experience of design, development, implementation and evaluation of humanitarian and/or development programmes
  • Financial aptitude, including knowledge of budget management, forecasting and basic management of accounts and financial controls
  • Extensive knowledge of humanitarian response, Disaster Risk reduction and emergency preparedness programming
  • A highly organized approach to work with proven ability to plan ahead and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.
