Why work for us?

CARE International UK are looking for an experienced humanitarian Programme Coordinator to lead its largest programme, the Syria Resilience Project (SRP). This flagship programme aims to support almost 300,000 people inside Syria with humanitarian and livelihoods assistance. This is an innovative programme implemented in partnership with the CARE Syria office, and funded by the UK’s Department for International Development.

About the role

Our humanitarian team oversees approximately £100m of programming worldwide. The Syria Resilience Project is our largest project and makes up almost half of that (£44m over 3.5 years). The programme launched in January 2017 and has delivered very strong results, despite the strong challenges and risks to delivery in this context.

The programme will end in March 2020 and we are looking for a motivated and committed individual to lead this programme to its conclusion, from our headquarters in London. You will have at least five years of experience managing humanitarian programmes, with strong technical programme management capacity in areas such as value for money, monitoring and evaluation, risk management and donor compliance. You should have a strong understanding of the Core Humanitarian Standard, and demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with donors and implementing partners.

About you

You will work closely with the Chief of Party and his team based in the region to ensure that the programme delivers to agreed timelines and budgets, and delivers quality services to affected populations to reduce vulnerability and build resilience. You will be the main relationship manager for the CIUK relationship with the DFID Syria programme team, and will be expected to quickly build trust with the donor. You will travel to the region at least once every quarter to lead review meetings with the donor, work closely with delivery teams, and support the office on technical aspects of programming. You will also input to the design of the next phase of our Syria programming.
