This position is crucial to the long-term growth and success of CARE in helping build our US marketing presence, growing our supporter base and engaging the wider American public in the importance of our work.

Our desire is to build a broad movement of engaged supporters who understand CARE’s work and the importance of international aid and development. Building a collective movement of globally minded US citizens and finding educational, self-organizing, and innovative projects for their engagement.

This role will help to engage those supporters over time to deepen their understanding and engagement with CARE’s work and grow their passion about what we do – building loyalty. We will present supporters with integrated and diverse opportunities to engage with CARE including donate, sign petitions, share stories, attend events and rallies, write to their political representatives, buy items to show their passion.

The successful candidate will understand supporter loyalty strategy and how to build an engaging supporter journey - they will also understand how to mobilize support for a cause or organization and how to activate community mobilization and volunteer efforts This candidate will need to understand both online and offline engagement strategy and tactics.

Responsibilities:

SUPPORTER ACQUISTION & ENGAGEMENT

Drive new supporter acquisition & engagement strategy:
- Work cross-functionally to develop a campaign strategy that integrates fundraising, marketing, digital, and advocacy and follows the principals of the commitment curve for driver greater engagement and lifetime loyalty.
- Help develop integrated campaigns that raise up CARE’s voice and amplify impact:
- Build on key marketing/advocacy moments to create stronger cut-through by activating them across all touchpoints of the organization and amplifying our voice, rather than a silo way of working.
- Help oversee and brief development of creative assets to support integrated campaigns.

Create online & offline engagement strategies to acquire new supporters and maximize their engagement in CARE’s work and mission:
- Lead on the development and implementation of a Supporter Engagement Strategy inspiring more supporters to actively participate in CARE programs and activities online and offline (across advocacy, fundraising and marketing/digital).
- Work closely with Advocacy and Fundraising teams to leverage their resources and local teams across the US to create holistic supporter engagement programs.
- Work cross-functionally to develop a campaign strategy that integrates fundraising, marketing, digital, and advocacy and follows the principals of the commitment curve for driver greater engagement.
- Lead integrated campaigns that raise up CARE’s voice and amplify impact.
- Manage portfolio of multiple messages and campaigns.
- Help oversee development of creative assets to support campaigns.

MARKETING INTEGRATION

  • Develop production processes and approval workflows to meet aggressive, rapid response deadlines while delivering the highest quality work.
  • Anticipate CARE marketing/comms needs, project risks and participate in driving resolution.
    Inspire marketing, fundraising & advocacy departments to raise up all activities to be better integrated and build proceses and forums to foster that behavior.
  • Inspire department to raise up all marketing activities to be better integrated/leveraged.
  • Build on key marketing/advocacy moments to create stronger cut-through by activating them across all touchpoints of the organization and amplifying our voice, rather than a silo way of working.

LEADERSHIP & INFLUENCE

This role will oversee several key team members within marketing - and will need to work to inspire and activate leaders across fundraising and marketing - leading them all to work in a new collaborative way to build integrated supporter journeys.

Key direct reports and matrix stakeholders include:

  • Direct report: Director Digital Engagement - who also manages team of Social community managers Senior Project Manager – who also manages Marketing co-ordinator
  • Direct report: Senior Project Manager - who also manages junior project manager and budget lead
  • Assess needs and recruit for data analyst
  • Creative director & creative team
  • Fundraising & advocacy leadership - especially leads for mass market fundraising and advocacy community mobilization
  • CARE affinity groups & other supporters and influencers

Qualifications:

  • BA - ideally in marketing, community mobilization or related field
  • Understanding of CRM systems and capabilities
  • Experience of leading data insight work
  • 7+ years in marketing or related field
