Technical Field Manager, Lebanon

Location : North East Lebanon

Subject to funding – expected to begin in May 2018

The total salary package for this position is £67,154 GBP per annum including all allowances.

About MAG:

MAG saves lives and builds futures by working with others to reclaim land contaminated with the debris of conflict, to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians, and to create safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for our work to ban landmines. Our vision is a safe and secure future for men, women and children affected by armed violence and conflict.

About the Lebanon programme:

MAG has been operating in Lebanon since 2000, when MAG first undertook an assessment mission to evaluate the country’s landmine problem, after years of civil war and the 2006 hostilities. MAG works closely with the national demining authority, the LMAC, who task and monitor MAG’s activities in support of the long-term plan which aims to achieve “a Lebanon free from the impact of landmines by 2020”.

About the role:

Our Technical Field Managers are at the core of our work and actively manage and lead our teams of national staff to safely implement our life saving mine clearance projects. They must be willing to lead from the front, responsible for the day-to-day management of our technical teams and being involved in all aspects of MAG’s lifesaving work, including working with internal and external stakeholders, administration, team cashbooks, procurement of equipment, reporting and planning.

We are looking to recruit a Technical Field Manager to manage operations in North East Lebanon which will focus on Non-Technical Surveys (NTS), Technical Surveys (TS) and IEDD disposal in surrounding areas of Arsal.

About you:

You must be qualified to IMAS EOD 3+ and have experience in IEDD and Technical & Non-Technical Surveys. You must also have prior experience of working in operational areas within the Middle East within the humanitarian or commercial sector. You must be willing to take on the physical challenges of working in a ‘hands on’ role in hostile environments, as part of a flexible and committed team to save lives in communities which need it most. You will be required to work with internal and external stakeholders and the successful candidate will therefore need to be able to demonstrate tact, diplomacy and tenacity.

Please note that as part of MAG's commitment to safeguarding, this post is subject to background checks before an offer of employment is confirmed.
