In response to the current situation in the Philippines, Save the Children is in the process of putting together a team provide emergency response support. As part of this we are looking for a Logistics Manager to provide expertise and support to our upscale in the area. He/she will be based in Estancia.

The Logistic Manager will offer leadership, management and coaching to the logistics staff at the Estancia field office. He/she will ensure compliance with the organisation’s policies and procedures, implementation of internal and external logistics requirements and offer training to both logistics and non-logistics staff. The role holder will coordinate closely with the Head of Logistics on the national supply chain infrastructure particularly the procurement and warehousing hubs. He/she will also liaise closely with the Distribution Manager and Infrastructure Manager (i.e. construction/rehabilitation).

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • 3-5 years relevant experience of procurement management, warehousing and stock control, goods distribution, and transportation and vehicle fleet management in large international non-governmental organisation or other international relief/development body and in emergency response/humanitarian environments;
  • Experience of developing a local supply chain to support different types of programmes, and coordinating resources to meet the programme objectives Previous experience of managing and developing a large team and the ability to lead, motivate and develop others;
  • Proven track-record in managing and supervising others in logistics;
  • Experience of building and developing the capacity of logistics staff through the use of training, performance management frameworks and development plans;
  • Sound knowledge of budgeting and financial management;
  • Solid project management skills related to organisational development projects and international, cross-functional teams with a proven history of delivering results;
  • Experience of NGO emergency program management, and with experience of working within a complex and matrix organisation structure;
  • Knowledge of international humanitarian systems, institutions and donors, and of procedures, accountability frameworks and best practices in emergency management;
  • Ability to synthesize and analyse information and make clear, informed decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
  • Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

Desirable

  • Higher education degree in logistics or equivalent/similar technical discipline;
  • Humanitarian working experience in Philippines or Asia region;
  • Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours, and work with incoming teams in the event of major emergencies;
  • Technical experience/knowledge in specific types of humanitarian intervention e.g. Child protection, Education, construction

Deployments are expected to last for 6 months.
