The Foundation seeks to appoint a highly skilled and dynamic individual as a Programme Officer to support the expansion its award winning TrustLaw Connect service in the South Asia region. The position is based in Mumbai, India.

TrustLaw Connect is the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s global pro bono service that connects NGOs and social enterprises with the best law firms around the world. Our rapidly expanding network of members includes over 1000 leading NGOs and social enterprises and 300 law firms and in-house legal teams. Over 750 legal teams have already worked pro bono on our projects.

We have a growing presence in the region already but recognize a huge potential for expansion of our services there and plan to run a number of high profile programmes and events in the region. We are looking for the ideal candidate to help support these efforts.

Responsibilities:

Based in Mumbai, India, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the expansion of the TrustLaw service across South Asia. Some of the responsibilities will be:

  • Researching and assisting with the mapping out and implementation of strategies to expand the TrustLaw Connect membership across the region(India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka & Bangladesh), making sure that we serve both the best NGOs and social enterprises, as well as the strongest law firms and corporate in-house legal teams in the region;
  • Processing applications received to TrustLaw Connect by conducting the vetting and due diligence of the organizations, verifying documents and speaking to the relevant organizations;
  • Help organizing recruitment trips to different regions; 
  • Supporting member events and regular communications, marketing and PR to support the development of the TrustLaw service;

Qualifications:

  • A passion for the development sector and a desire to build a career in the develoment sector. An understanding of the needs, challenges and best practices in the NGO and social enterprise communities with some demonstrated work in the sector.
  • A legal background would be useful candidates with other relevant experience will also be considered. Someone educated to degree level, preferably with a Master’s qualification, and has at least three - five years working experience in an office environment; 
  • Capacity to work quickly under pressure, to juggle multiple tasks and requests simultaneously, to meet deadline requirements and to drive projects to completion. A high degree of attention to detail is essential. 
  • A working knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM software would be useful. 
  • High level of independence and initiative, self-motivated, with an ability to design your own agenda and take responsibility to advance and complete projects;
  • Excellent written and spoken English, fantastic written communication skills and an ability to adapt messages to different audiences and global teams. 
  • Additional languages would be a plus;
