Role and Responsibilities

Provide supervision to the various emergency responses to ensure patients are diagnosed and treated according to the Ministry of Health Guidelines. Supervise and train local staff as they provide screening, testing, diagnosis, and treatment. Be in charge of writing reports and keeping good data records, assisting with ensuring adequate stocks, training local staff as needed, and monitoring the overall health situation for potential outbreaks.

 

Project Overview

To respond to health emergencies across South Sudan through provision of preventive and curative treatment such as PHC out-patient consultation, ANC, safe delivery, EPI, mass vaccination campaigns and emergency nutrition.

Full time, 2-3 months

 

Key Activity Areas

Health Management

  • Responsible for diagnosis and treatment of patients following MoH treatment guidelines.

  • Discuss with Project Manager on patients that requires referral to other treatment centres.

  • Responsible for on the job training and supervision of locally recruited staff.

  • Give feedback to the Project Manager on technical issues related to management e.g. diagnosis, treatment, etc.

  • Responsible for medical administration and report writing at clinic level (DHIS, IDSR) and contribution to ERT assessment and intervention reports

     

    Staff Management

  • Line manage locally recruited staff working in the health centres.

  • Act as team leader when requested.

     

    External Representation

  • Attend MoH, community, partner or cluster meetings when requested.

     

     

    Logistics

  • Prepare field orders/stock requests for approval by the Project Manager.

  • Ensure timely stock order and management to prevent any stock outages impacting patient care/service provision.

     

    Quality Management

  • Is fully responsible to continuously monitor progress against set objectives.

  • Is fully responsible to ensure that all reporting and administration is done according to the relevant guidelines and is reported accurately.

     

    Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant, Clinical Officer or Midwife Diploma

     

    Languages

  • Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written)

     

    Experience / Competencies

  • 2 years’ work experience

  • 1 year work with a similar organisation desirable

  • Full knowledge for the treatment of common diseases, experience in reproductive health

  • Knowledge of nutrition programmes (CMAM) desirable

  • Flexible and willing to work in difficult and busy environments

  • Willing to remain in the field for up to 8 weeks’ time during the rainy season

  • Enjoys working with team and living in a team setting

  • Self-motivated; desire to serve the community

  • Working knowledge of French, spoken and written, for French-speaking field programmes

  • Successful completion of Medair Relief & Recovery Orientation Course (ROC)
