The role:
As a member of the Niger technical team, the Sahel Resilience Adviser (SRA) will serve as the focal person for the full development of the guiding document for the Roots to Resilience in Sahel (R2RS) Program, covering the following aspects: program design, partnership development, fund raising strategy, advocacy plan and research. The SRA will represent Save the Children in partnerships and networks that advance the resilience work in Niger.
Qualifications and experience:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in resilience and related work; with attributable publications and documentation of work in this area;
- Advanced degree in fields related to resilience; Excellent analytical skills and ability to put to practical use, data and information gathered and analyzed in the course of his/her work;
- Ability to comprehend and act on strategic implications of contextual knowledge as well as new information;
- Excellent understanding and appreciation of the complexities and challenges of resilience work in the West and Central Africa Region;
- Effective negotiator, with the ability to positively influence cross departmental and cross-sectorial efforts;
- Credibility to influence key policy makers towards the advocacy agenda for resilience and related endeavours. grants from major institutional donors represent Save the Children at all levels
- Solid project management skills with a history of delivering results;
- Ability to link resilience for the survival, development, protection and participation of children.
- Previous experience of managing and developing a team and the ability to lead, motivate and develop others
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Resource management, training , capacity building, coaching, and mentoring skills
- Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming teams, in the event of major emergencies
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Childrenâs aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches
- Fluency in written and spoken English as well as in French.
