The role

The Information Manager Co-lead is a core member of Education Sector Working group/ Cluster Coordination team and will support the Working group/Cluster Coordinator to fulfill the Education Cluster’s mission to:

  • ­ provide leadership in emergency and crisis response and recovery;
  • ­ work in partnership to ensure continued access to quality and relevant education;
  • ­ ensure evidence-based actions, gap-filling and sound coordination; and
  • ­ enhance accountability, predictability and effectiveness of emergency education actions

The Information Manager Co-lead will play a vital role in collecting, analyzing, and sharing information that is important for the cluster stakeholders to make informed, evidence-based, strategic decisions on:

  • ­ The needs of affected populations;
  • ­ The prioritization of these needs;
  • ­ What are the key gaps in activities to meet prioritized needs;
  • ­ What capacity (human, material, financial) exists to be used in support of the identified prioritized response needs.


Qualifications and experience

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent in relevant field such as: education, geographic sciences, humanitarian affairs, political science, information technology, information systems, engineering or communications
  • Experience in information management, knowledge management or a related field
  • At least two-year’s combined field and headquarters experience in a relevant humanitarian international organization(s) (e.g. UN agencies, INGOs, IOs, Donors, IFRC or ICRC)
  • Experience of working in complex emergencies
  • Fluency in English and French
  • Good knowledge of the UN system and NGO humanitarian community.
  • Knowledge of education-related technical guidelines, standards, and indicators, particularly the INEE Minimum Standards
  • Experience of humanitarian needs assessments, surveys, and monitoring and evaluation
  • Proven statistical analytic skills
  • Experience in website content management
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work with many different functions from high level decision makers to technical specialists to IT experts.
  • Able to manage and work in or with a multidisciplinary team of IM practitioners and provide leadership and guidance for IM operations
  • Ability to guide technical staff
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel and preferably MS Access or other databases
  • Understanding of GIS and map making processes and ability to collect and organize data to support their production
  • Ability to present information in understandable tables, charts and graphs
  • Data capture, storage/file management and analysis and report generation
