Under the overall direction of the HFHI Asia-Pacific Associate Director Programs, the HFHI Country Program Manager oversees existing programs/partnerships, initiate new programs and liaise with government departments, donors and other organizations as necessary. This position will work onsite at our Yangon, Myanmar office.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with World Concern Myanmar (WCM) Country Director and relevant managers; ensure current partnership projects are implemented according to agreed plans.
  • Design and develop new projects consistent with HFHI mission and strategic plan, this includes both HFHI- directly implemented projects as well as partnership projects with WCM and other potential NGO partners. This also includes organizing needs assessments as necessary and drafting project proposals.
  • Recruit, develop and manage staff, as needed, and consistent with Myanmar labor laws and HFHI staffing policies.
  • Ensure fiscal, legal and programmatic integrity and effectiveness.
  • Oversee the development and management of budget and finances.
  • Ensure regular and timely narrative and financial reporting is carried out in accordance with donor agreements and HFHI requirements.
  • Ensure regular monitoring and evaluation of project activities and outcomes.
  • With close support from HFHI Asia Pacific office, liaise with relevant Government of Myanmar (GOM) departments and see that necessary reporting to the GOM is carried out, as well as any necessary work on developing MOUs with local authorities.
  • In collaboration with HFHI Asia Pacific area office staff, identify and connect with potential local donors, including private sector businesses, donor government embassies, foundations, etc.
  • Participate in relevant inter-agency forums, and network/liaise with other local and international NGOs and relevant organizations.
  • Oversee arrangements and logistics for HFHI partner and donor visits as required.
  • With close support from HFHI Asia Pacific Office, actively participate in developing a strategic and business plan for Myanmar consistent with the HFHI global and regional strategic priorities and targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as international development or relations, public administration, management, civil engineering, and/or social sciences
  • Experience in project implementation and community development work.
  • Successful fundraising and resource development experience
  • A track-record of effective servant leadership and general management
  • Experience in managing people, budgets and other resources.
  • Strong communication skills, excellent spoken and written English and Myanmar language
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, diplomacy and adaptability and the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to plan one’s own work, set priorities and complete tasks under pressure or when faced with competing demands
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally when necessary.
  • Master’s degree (preferred)
