CARE is seeking a Global Controller who will be a responsible for leading the finance organization to ensure reliable, accurate and complete financial information is provided in a timely manner to internal and external users worldwide for CARE/USA. This includes the development and application of policies to ensure that financial transactions are recorded and consolidated in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and donor requirements, consolidation of worldwide financial data, preparation of CARE's financial statements and other statutory filings and reports, management of the financial statement and US Government audits.  The Global Controller ensures the consistent application of financial procedures and systems throughout CARE USA to deliver a sound control environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing supervision, leadership, support and guidance to staff.  The Global Controller is responsible for building an effective team through training and coaching,   and performance management. Ensure effective communication between the units under his/her responsibility, other CARE/USA entities and external parties.
  • Oversee the development and application of the organizational performance processes and systems with regard to reporting and compliance with GAAP and donor cost and reporting principles. 
  • Oversee the preparation of CARE/USA’s financial statements in conformity with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), federal and state filings and the consolidation and preparation of the various tax returns for multiple entities.  Oversee and manage the annual financial statement and Uniform Guidance audit processes. 
  • With the CFO, plan and implement operational strategy in support of the organization's long-term goals.  Establish and maintain CARE’s financial policies and procedures with regard to budgeting, recording financial transactions, internal control, reconciliation, reporting, and CARE International.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Masters preferred in accounting or finance;
  • 10 years financial management experience, in an organization of comparable size and complexity to CARE;
  • Certified Public Accountant;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of control systems and application of management approaches;
  • Non-profit GAAP experience;
  • US Government Regulations and Uniform Guidance audit experience;
  • Ability to balance customer service, team work and control for optimum use of CARE's financial resources;
  • Enterprise Resource Planning and Financial Software use;
  • Strategic Management & Leadership skills; 
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills; diplomacy.
