CAFOD, on behalf of Norwegian Church Aid (NCA), is seeking a Programme Manager Darfur for the NCA Darfur Programme.

 

The Programme Manager Darfur is a senior position responsible for overseeing the implementation of the NCA Darfur Programme in South and Central Darfur which is supported by the ACT and Caritas Networks. The post holder reports directly to the NCA Director in Khartoum.

 

You will oversee a senior management team in Darfur and work closely with local partners. You will also be an ex officio member of the Compliance, Support and Advisory Group which is the governance body of the Darfur Programme. The post holder also ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements as relating to NCA routines and guidelines, donor requirements and national law and regulations. We are looking for someone with experience of managing multi sector humanitarian operations within the context of different protracted emergencies with proven ability to directly manage programme functions such as WASH, Health and Nutrition and Livelihoods.

 

The successful candidate will have an ability to communicate and with different actors within programme and donor networks and will have experience of liaising with government institutions. Knowledge of practical programming is an essential component of the job as is a good understanding and experience of capacity building and working with partners and change management. The successful candidate will further have good interpersonal and negotiation skills and a team oriented attitude with proven leadership skills. We are looking for someone with excellent knowledge of humanitarian principles and standards, demonstrative experience of leading innovative practices within protracted emergencies, a high degree of initiative, motivation and flexible attitude and experience of leading strategic planning processes.

 

It is important that candidates also demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and in a stressful environment with an ability to work independently and with self-confidence. Experience of staff management and financial management is also necessary. Excellent knowledge of oral and written English is essential.
