Contract length: 12 months


The role:

The Senior Programme Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership and assume the overall responsibility for the implementation of a large-scale ($5.94m), consortium based education project. This is a senior role providing leadership to a consortium of four NGOs. The post-holder provides overall direction and functional management to the programme, as well as coordinating the relationship and information flows between all the key stakeholders: MoEST, UNICEF, and consortium partner agencies.

Qualifications and experience

Essential

    • Master’s degree in related field (or an equivalent high-level professional qualification)
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of managing education with a focus on primary education.
    • Exceptional project management skills (finance, budgeting, managing staff, planning, donor-management)
    • Solid international experience (minimum 2 years) working with an international NGO or a Ministry of Education, with a proven ability working in insecure environments
    • Outstanding skills in leading consortia of INGOs and Teacher training colleges
    • High-level communications, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills for working in multi-cultural teams and with the Ministry of Education
    • Technical understanding of school leadership and / or School Inspection
    • Willingness to travel extensively across all areas of South Sudan
    • Commitment to the values and principles of Save the ChildrenDesirable:
    • Demonstrated experience of managing large milestone based projects
    • Strong technical knowledge of policy and practice in the field of education and states affected by conflict, with the ability to provide education technical guidance at policy and implementation levels
    • Previous experience in South Sudan
    • Previous experience in managing a UNICEF payment-by-results contract
    • Experience in leading, designing and implementing Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability Learning systems
