EXTENDED DEADLINE

Thomson Reuters Foundation launches a training programme “Reporting on Immunisation and Vaccination” in partnership with the Sabin Vaccine Institute.

Thomson Reuters Foundation in partnership with the Sabin Vaccine Institute launches a five-day training programme “Reporting on Immunisation and Vaccination” for staff or freelance journalists from Guyana and other low- and middle-income countries in the Latin America and Caribbean region*, including Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Suriname and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

To apply for the course in English (8th to 12th of February), click HERE.

The programme will be covering a wide scope of immunisation-related topics: the role of vaccines in public health, new and emerging issues particularly around COVID-19 vaccines, and the responsibility of media in educating the public about misinformation on vaccines and immunisation.

The programme consists of 4 days of online training and an extra day of one-to-one online mentoring for all participants.

Trainers will include former senior journalists from international media outlets such as Reuters and BBC, with guest speakers from the science and health professions.

£250 story grants and ongoing mentoring for 8 weeks will be available to selected applicants following the course.

Applicants who are interested in issues related to health reporting and the current issues on immunisation are encouraged to apply, as well as specialist health reporters. Applicants should have a minimum of two years’ professional experience and a good level of spoken and written English to apply to the English-language course.

The deadline is January 25. Successful applicants will be notified by January 29. Thomson Reuters Foundation does not comment on the selection results and only selected participants will be notified.

If you have issues with application form submitting, please contact Melanie Cremona at melanie.cremona@thomsonreuters.com.
