Raúl works to expand the TrustLaw network of NGOs, social enterprises, in-house counsel and law firms in the Europe and MENA regions. Prior to joining the Thomson Reuters Foundation, Raúl worked in a variety of development and non-profit areas for more than fifteen years, overseeing and distributing grants in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

During his career Raúl has been involved in implementing a range of educational and cultural projects designed to raise awareness of human rights issues in Europe. His experience in international development includes projects designed to address female genital mutilation in Ethiopia, protecting the rights of people with albinism in Senegal and empowering the poor through microcredits in Bangladesh.

Raúl holds a degree in Law. He received a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from ESADE Business School in Madrid, a Certificate in European Law and Economics from University of Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne in Paris, a Certificate in Peace and Development Studies from University of Castellon and a Masters of Arts in European-Latin American Relations from University of Bradford.

Raúl co-founded the Fundación Española por los Derechos Humanos. He is based in Madrid, but has lived and worked in France, Portugal, Belgium, Mozambique, Brazil, the UK and the US.
