Simit joined the Thomson Reuters Foundation in March 2017. He works to promote pro bono legal practice and expand our network of NGOs, social enterprises, in-house counsels and law firms in South Asia. Simit is also involved in the development of TrustLaw’s cross-border research programmes in the region, with a particular specialism in environment and climate change.Simit is a journalist-turned-development practitioner and has previously worked in various roles that involved programme management, project implementation, monitoring and reporting on environmental issues. Prior to joining the Foundation, Simit worked at Tata Trusts on programme management and identifying grant making opportunities in the Media, Arts and Culture Portfolio. He has previously worked as an environment journalist and covered the Conference of Parties (COP) 15 summit on climate change in Copenhagen, for The Times of India. Simit has a Master of Arts degree in Science, Society and Development from Institute of Development Studies at University of Sussex, UK and a Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication from Mumbai. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Mumbai University. He received a certificate in Environment Reporting from International Institute of Journalism, Berlin, Germany.
